Twist and turns in Alabama’s pursuit for a 2020 QB

Alabama’s 2020 recruiting class is still without a quarterback as time slowly winds down in the 2020 cycle, but things are starting to get a bit clearer for the Tide.

The Tide’s 2020 class currently has a total of 22 verbal commits. One of them is a prospect, who Alabama has talked to about playing quarterback. Alabama has also made some big moves with a certain 5-Star target.

4-Star athlete, Kristian Story, committed to Alabama in July. Many projected him to play defensive back at the next level, but he expressed to yours truly in a recent interview for “The Process”, the Tide has talked to him about playing quarterback and/or safety. With Story’s commitment firmly locked in, it is safe to say, Alabama will most definitely finish the 2020 cycle with a quarterback commit.

However, with the USC Trojans program not showing much improvement in the early college football season, it looks as if it is going to become difficult for them to hold on to 5-Star quarterback, Bryce Young. Alabama has constantly recruited Young and he has a long-standing relationship with Alabama’s offensive coordinator, Steve Sarkisian.

Young is one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation, but Story is no slouch at the quarterback position. The Lanett product help led his team to a state championship as a sophomore. Story also finished his junior season throwing for more than 2,0000 yards and 40 touchdowns.

Young, on the other hand, threw for a 1,000 yards more and 43 total touchdowns against a tough Mater Dei schedule.

No matter which way Alabama’s 2020 class shakes out, Story is a kid, who will get a chance to play multiple positions at the next level and Young is an elite quarterback, who could possibly make Alabama’s quarterback competition an interesting one if he flips to Alabama.
