According a video provided by Alabama Athletics, much of the attention was on the defense. Listed below are some notes from the session, including a look at a few scout team numbers helping the Tide get ready for the Tigers.

Notes from Tuesday’s practice

William Anderson, a true freshman, was named the starter at jack linebacker. He was regarded as a big-time pass rusher in high school and Nick Saban sees the ability he has to be effective.

-The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder laid a hit on Jahleel Billingsley in a drill and ripped the ball from the talented tight end. Sal Sunseri, outside linebackers’ coach, wants to see a lot of that.

Drew Sanders, a true freshman from Texas, worked behind Anderson at outside linebacker.

-Pete Golding had inside linebackers working the sled and attacking scout-team running backs.

-In facing Larry Rountree III of Missouri, Alabama must break down and make secure tackles in space. The rising senior was a 1,000-yard rusher (1,216) as a sophomore and totaled 829 yards with nine touchdowns in 2019. After having issues with Rico Dowdle (South Carolina) and Clyde Edwards-Helaire (LSU) a season ago, the Tide should not take any chances with Rountree.
