Second-year running back Derrick Henry looks to build off some decent numbers from his rookie season in 2016, as he put forth a strong effort to start mandatory minicamp for the Titans.
According to a tweet from Titans senior writer Jim Wyatt, head coach Mike Mularkey has noticed a faster Henry at Saint Thomas Sports Park in Nashville, Tenn. Before getting selected in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, he turned in 4.54 40-time, displayed a 37″ vertical, posted a broad jump of 10’10” and a 60-yard shuttle of 11.50 seconds at the NFL Combine.
As the backup to DeMarco Murray, Henry totaled 490 rushing yards with five touchdowns on 110 carries through 15 regular season games. The former Alabama running back and 2015 Heisman Trophy winner also showcased soft hands out the backfield, snatching 13 passes for 137 receiving yards.
Wyatt posted a video his Instagram on Tuesday, showing Henry’s pass-catching skills with the jug machine in slow motion. While people more so credit his rushing prowess in three years (2013-15) at Alabama, the Florida native did tally 17 catches for 283 yards and three scores.
