What Alabama Players Were Saying After the Iron Bowl

Auburn has a fine stadium, but the visitors media room and places they give you to interview players after the game sure lack a lot. In interviewing players after the game, or rather attempting to, you could at best just get snippets of information.
Here are some of the quotes I got from various players after the game.
“We didn’t show our best tonight. We are better than what showed in this game.”
 “They made the big plays, we didn’t. We didn’t execute like we should have.”
“We still think we’re one of the best teams in the country and we’re sure the committee will see that too.”
“You have to give Auburn credit, they played hard and deserved this win tonight, but if we play them again, it will be a different story.”
When asked if Auburn did anything that surprised them… “No, we prepared for everything the did, but the executed better than we did on certain plays that proved to be the difference.”
“The crowd noise was a factor in the game. We prepared for noise, but it was louder than we expected.”
Then I noticed the team buses were just outside the gate and some of the players not chosen to be interviewed were mingling. From them I got less practiced and seemingly scripted quotes like these.
“It ain’t over baby, it ain’t over by a longshot!” (Meaning the playoffs)
“They had their game, we’ll have ours!”
“They benefited from making almost every critical play they had to make. We let them make too many third down conversions and we failed to that when we had the ball.”
“Give them credit, they did what we usually do and we did what we usually don’t.”
To a man, most felt they still had a shot to make it to the playoffs, but to be sure, fate would have to intervene and what happens from here is no longer in their own hands, but in the hearts and votes of the committee.
We won’t go into the necessary scenarios that it will take for the committee to put Alabama in the top four. But one could certainly make a case for the Tide.
In the past, Alabama has responded from a loss to play their best ball when going into the championships, they feel that will be the case this year too.
