Alabama’s 2018 recruiting class is complete with a total of 20 Signees and is quite impressive. The Crimson Tide finished at No.6 in the 2018 ESPN recruiting ranking and was one of the three programs in the top 10 with 20 or less commits. Here are some major takeaways from Alabama’s 2018 recruiting class.
*The Crimson Tide landed five defensive backs: 5-Star Patrick Surtain, 4-Star Josh Jobe, 4-Star Jalyn Armour-Davis, 4-Star Savion Smith and 3-Star Eddie Smith. The secondary was a huge priority for them in this recruiting class and they did a superb job at getting some of the top defensive back prospects to Tuscaloosa.
*Alabama did not sign a quarterback, but did land a preffered walk-on in Braxton Barker. Nick Saban did want a 4th scholarship quarterback on the roster, but may have got a steal in Barker.
*The Tide landed a total of 4 offensive skill players: 4-Star WR Xavier Williams, 4-Star WR Jaylen Waddle, 3-Star ATH Slade Bolden and 3-Star ATH Jerome Ford. It was difficult for the Tide to land a running back with it’s current stable of backs, but got a great guy in Ford. Their wide receiver commits are also pretty impressive.
*This class is largely a defensive one with 15 defensive commits. This defensive class is lead by 5-Star Eyabi Anoma and 5-Star Patrick Surtain.
*Alabama landed the No.1 punter in the nation in Skyler Delong. With J.K. Scott graduating, Alabama wanted a punter that could come in and be used as a weapon and they got one in Delong.
