The game week that Alabama recruiting die-hards have been waiting for is finally upon us as Alabama commit, Paul Tyson, is preparing to lead a talented Hewitt-Trussville team up against fellow Alabama commit, Taulia Tagovailoa, and the tough Thompson Warriors on Friday.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN 2. A total of six Alabama commits will be centered stage for the biggest game of their season thus far. Of course, the players want to have bragging rights over their future teammates, but this game has way more important implications as the winner of this game could claim the regional title for the competitive 7A region 3.
Tagovailoa’s season has been highlighted by miraculous passing numbers. He has thrown for more than 2500 yards and 27 touchdowns this season. He has helped the Warriors obtain a 7-1 record and has them in a 4-way tie for the No. 1 spot in the region. Their only loss came against Hoover, where Tagovailoa threw for 478 yards and four touchdowns.
Tyson has broken a record and led the Huskies to some huge wins. He is 157-of-223 for 2161 yards and 20 touchdowns. He currently holds the Hewitt-Trussville school record for career passing touchdowns and has led the Huskies to a 7-2 overall record. The highlight of their season was a blowout win against Hoover High School, who is one of the teams in the 4-way tie. Their only regional loss came against the fourth team in the 4-way tie in Mountain Brook.
Both quarterbacks have contrasting styles but share some similarities. Tyson and Tagovailoa are both considered passing quarterbacks, although Tagovailoa can move around a bit better than Tyson. This matchup will show that both guys can also make almost every throw on the field.
This game could get high scoring and be filled with incredible passes. ESPN 2 will provide live coverage of the matchup beginning at 6:30 p.m. central. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
