Marlon Humphrey turning in Pro Bowl season for Baltimore Ravens

He may have entered the University of Alabama under his father’s legacy, but Marlon Humphrey made his own name as an All-American and national champion.

As a second-year cornerback in the National Football League, Humphrey is putting together a Pro Bowl-caliber season with the Baltimore Ravens.

It is no doubt that C.J. Mosley (another former Crimson Tide standout) is the leader of the group; however, the No. 16 overall pick from the 2017 NFL Draft is representing the franchise well.

While he does not have any problems with creating turnovers, Humphrey has always had more of a knack for pass breakups.

Even in his time at Tuscaloosa, he recorded 13 breakups to five interceptions.

He broke up four passes in Baltimore’s 20-12 win over Tampa Bay and collected the team’s lone pick off Jameis Winston.

It was Humphrey’s first interception of the season and second of his career.

Aside from Mike Evans – four catches, 121 yards – the Birmingham native caused for the remainder of the Buccaneers’ receiving corps to be non-existent. With the victory, Humphrey and the Ravens improve to 8-6 and remain the favorite for the sixth and final playoff spot.

Since being drafted to Baltimore, head coach John Harbaugh has seen the growth of Humphrey in year two.

Following the game, he praised his young corner in saying that he played at the “highest level” against Tampa Bay.

“He came through in critical situations the whole game,” Harbaugh said of Humphrey.

Through 14 games, the 6-foot defender tallied 31 tackles, two tackles for loss, 12 pass breakups and one interception.

Selections for the Pro Bowl will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 18.
