Smooth routes, soft hands and a connection with his quarterback aided in 4-Star wide receiver, Dazalin Worsham, success during his Junior season, but now he has to channel a different focus to continue his on the field success.
Worsham is an Alabama verbal commit in the 2020 recruiting class. He reeled in 87 receptions for 1,022 yards and 13 touchdowns this past season. The Hewitt-Trussville product knows there was some things he did well last season and his stats speaks for themselves, but there are some things he feels he needs to improve on.
“I think I did good at catching the deep ball,” Worsham said. “I want to improve in every aspect of the game, but I definitely want to work on my yards after the catch, jump balls and break away speed.”
Training for his Senior season has been delayed a bit due to a hip surgery he had on Dec. 10. The Surgery was successful and he is is still going through the therapy process. He is taking things day-by-day and feels he is making progress.
“I’m walking fine,” Worsham said. “I am doing a lot at therapy to get me back to being better then ever.”
Alabama’s current wide receivers have similar playing styles to Worsham and that is one of the reasons he feels he can succeed at the Capstone.
ESPN has Worsham listed as the No. 11 wide receiver in the ESPN Jr. 300. He holds a total of 22 offers and that number could grow as he is easily one of the top wide receivers in the 2020 recruiting class. As teams attempt to square away their 2019 recruiting class, 2020 recruits will see a jump in their recruitment soon and Worsham will be in several programs’ conversations as multiple schools continue to push for his commitment.
“Georgia , LSU , Clemson , Florida , Florida State and Ole Miss are still pushing hard,” Worsham said.
The Tide hopes they can fight off these programs and add another Hewitt-Trussville product to their roster as offensive tackle, Pierce Quick, and quarterback, Paul Tyson, have enrolled into the University and practice with the team during bowl prep this past season. Hewitt-Trussville’s 2020 4-Star cornerback, Malachi Moore, is also committed to Alabama.
The Tide is going to want to reload on wide receivers in the 2020 class as they only landed one 2019 wide receiver in John Metchie. Worsham and Javon Baker are the Tide’s two 2020 verbal commits at the wide receiver position and are most likely the first of a good sized group.
