The Alliance of American Football League has people excited in its first week, and for fans of Alabama football, one of its own is trying to make an epic comeback.

It has not been the greatest debut for Trent Richardson; however, the 2011 Heisman finalist and third overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft created history on Sunday. He reached the end zone on a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter, becoming the first player to record a touchdown for the Birmingham Iron.

Seeing how the AAFL does not allow extra points, Richardson came behind his score and caught a pass from quarterback Luis Perez to add on the two-point try.

Prior to his debut with the Iron, Richardson spent time with the Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, Oakland Raiders and Baltimore Ravens in the National Football League.

He was a former five-star prospect at the University of Alabama from 2009 to 2011 and was a two-time BCS national champion.

The Florida native would tack on another rushing score and total 60 yards rushing on 23 carries, en route to the Iron earning a 26-0 victory over the Memphis Express. Richardson would also record one catch for 14 yards and started to look like the superstar he once was for the Crimson Tide in the fourth quarter.

Hopefully, this becomes the opportunity that catapults him back into the National Football League.
