Dematrius Davis is confident an Alabama offer is on the horizon

Dematrius Davis caught the eyes of football fans across the nation, when he threw a hail mary pass for a touchdown in the final seconds of the Texas High School 6-A, Division 1 state championship.

Davis has since made a name for himself on the recruiting trail. He has picked up 12 Division 1 offers. Looking back on the memorable moment, he said it is a memory he will remember for a life time.

“It was crazy,” Davis said. “It was the most exciting thing I had ever experienced.”

Nick Saban took a visit to North Shore High School recently to speak with Davis and the No. 1 running back in the 2020 recruiting class, Zachary Evans. Saban encouraged Davis to get on campus as soon as possible. The conversation the two had,  left Davis feeling like an offer was on the horizon.

“I am pretty sure when i go up there, I will leave with an offer,” Davis said.

Alabama is on the mind of Davis as he plans to visit soon. Florida State, Nebraska, Iowa and LSU are also in Davis’ visit plans. His recruitment is 100 percent open to all suitors, but these are the schools he plans to visit very soon.

The Texas product’s sophomore season was filled with big plays. He showed he was very comfortable on the pocket, which is seldom seem by a young quarterback. His arm strength was on full display as he passed for 3,350 yards and 43 touchdowns.

“I can make smart reads,” Davis said. “I do not force the ball and I can make plays with my feet.”

Davis is currently a sophomore in high school, which means he has some things to improve on and plenty of time to do it. He said he knows he has to continue to grow.

“I feel like i need to get faster and build my arm strength to throw even farther,” Davis said.

Alabama does not have a quarterback verbally committed at the moment in the 2020 or 2021 recruiting class. After landing two 4-Star quarterbacks in 2019, it will be interesting to see how many quarterbacks the Tide try to bring in during the next two cycles.
