Former Alabama football quarterback AJ McCarron feels that having Derek Meadows and Cederian Morgan on the field will confuse defenses the Crimson Tide will play against this season.
Morgan is listed at 6-foot-4 on the Tide’s 2026 roster, and Meadows is listed at 6-foot-5. The pair is the tallest wide receivers on the Tide’s roster. McCarron feels having them lining up in different spots on offense will confuse defenses during the upcoming college football season.
“If those big dudes can not only play outside, but you can move them inside, I mean that’s when it gets wild, and defenses don’t understand and are confused on what package, how they match that personnel, what coverages are they going to play because man this team running the ball really well, now he’s in the slot,” McCarron said on “The Dynasty Podcast.” “Are we dropping a safety down play because he could be playing Y in Meadows in Morgan? How is that offense treating him? Is it a 10 or 11 personnel type of look for them? It just creates so many mismatches.”
Meadows and Morgan are both expected to earn significant playing time this fall for the Crimson Tide at wide receiver. Morgan will be a true freshman this fall, and Meadows will be a sophomore.
