Despite Landon Dickerson starting nine games at center for Alabama in 2019, he gained 17 pounds (going from 308 to 325) and is moving to right guard to have a better shot at the NFL.
With this happening, sources have confirmed with yours truly of Touchdown Alabama Magazine that a three-man race is happening for the center position.Â
The trio of Chris Owens, Emil Ekiyor Jr., and Darrian Dalcourt are battling for the starting role. All three have taken snaps thus far in fall practice, and the most consistent player will win the job.
Even with the experience of Owens and versatility of Ekiyor, Dalcourt was the most impressive last year in 69 snaps as a backup. He got the key blocks on the longest two touchdowns scored by a running back (Keilan Robinson) and is naturally gifted. This is the lone spot the Tide needs to lock down, but I think Dalcourt ends up winning it.Â

Center will come down to Chris Owens, Emil Ekiyor and Darrian Dalcourt. Whichever one of the three shows the most positive consistency.
