Pregame notes:
- Edge rusher Terrell Lewis was dressed out and going through individual drills with the second unit. Once team drills began, Lewis stood to the side with his helmet off.
- Josh Jacobs announced via Instagram that he was feeling a lot better today. He was taking reps in warm ups.
- Isaiah Buggs took all reps with the first-team defense in warm ups.
Georgia's first drive: Not much going for the Bulldogs on the opening drive. D'Andre Swift carried the ball on first and second down for a combined four years. Quinnen Williams sacked Jake Fromm on third down.
Jaylen Waddle returns the punt 47 yards to the 36-yard line going in.
Alabama's first drive: The Tide started strong, but Georgia followed up a sack with an interception.
Tua Tagoavailoa looks to be banged up on the play (ankle injury)
Injury update: Tua Tagovailoa has gone to the medical tent for further evaluation on that ankle.
Update: Tua Tagovailoa is out of the tent and back with his teammates on the sideline.
Jake Fromm is playing a good game so far. He's made a few high-level throws. That last one fell incomplete, but it was on the money.
Tagovailoa, on the other hand, seems to be off.
HUGE (rare) drop by tight end Irv Smith Jr. This Alabama offense seems out of sync. Georgia throwing a lot of things at them -- including bringing pressure to get Tagovailoa off his game.
Another point on that drop from Irv Smith Jr.: It wasn't a great throw from Tagovailoa. Catchable? Yes. Good throw? No.
This is the most rattled I've seen Tagovailoa since he first put on the Crimson jersey,
Injury update: Tagovailoa is back in the medical tent after that last drive. He clearly seems off -- is it ankle related?
Score update: Georgia 7, Alabama 0
Analysis: Georgia strikes first after the 20-yard TD pass from Fromm to tight end Isaac Nauta. The Bulldogs aren't finding a lot of success on the ground (which is surprising) but Fromm has carved up this Alabama defense. He's completing 66.7-percent of his passes (6 for 9) for 85 yards and a score.
Injury update: Georgia star CB Deandre Baker is down with what appears to be a shoulder injury.
It should be noted that he hasn't been shadowing Alabama's top option (Jerry Jeudy). Instead, they've put Baker on Ruggs and bracketed Jeudy.
Injury update: Baker is back out on the field.
End of the first quarter: Georgia 7, Alabama 0
Quarter recap: The tale of the first quarter has been the play of both quarterbacks. While Tagovailoa is struggling (both on the field and with an ankle injury), Fromm has played as well as he could have.
The good news for Alabama fans? The Tide is on the half-yard line going in with their heavy package (including Quinnen Williams and LaBryan Ray) ready to go.
