It's early, but things have already gotten underway. Stay tuned for updates on Alabama's signing day!
Late to the party here, but four-star WDE Khris Bogle flipped his commitment from Alabama to Florida this morning.
Alabama has a lot of edge talent, but they can't afford too many more losses if Eyabi Anoma does end up transferring. We've seen in recent years how the depth -- especially at that position -- can be tested.
Good news on four-star DT Byron Young. He's arrived at his commitment ceremony rocking an Alabama dress shirt, according to James Pugh with Sports601.
Here's why Alabama is heading in a much different direction than Auburn right now: the trenches. Over the last two recruiting classes, this has been the Tigers' OL commits:
- Keiondre Jones (4-star / No. 144 overall)
- Justin Osborne (3-star / No. 514 overall)
- Jalil Irvin (3-star / No. 482 overall)
- Kameron Stutts (3-star / No. 583 overall)
That's not going to get it done in SEC trenches. For comparison, here are Alabama's OL commits during that same span:
- Evan Neal (5-star / No. 7 overall)
- Pierce Quick (4-star / No. 40 overall)
- Amari Kight (4-star / No. 76 overall)
- Darrian Dalcourt (4-star / No. 177 overall)
- Tanner Bowles (4-star / No. 290 overall)
- Emil Ekiyor (4-star / No. 113 overall)
- Tommy Brown (4-star / No. 132 overall)
Of course, that doesn't even include the 2017 class, which consisted of guys like Alex Leatherwood (5-star), Jedrick Wills (4-star) and several others. This isn't to bash Auburn, but it is interesting that they've struggled with OL commits in back-to-back classes.
Two more commitment updates:
- Four-star DT Byron Young does stick with his commitment with Alabama
- Four-star CB Christian Williams flips from Alabama to Miami
Analysis: This DL group is impressive. To take it a step further, Alabama has actually dominated the trenches on both sides of the football. As far as Williams, he was a soft verbal, so this news wasn't unexpected. With that said, the Tide has hauled in two impressive groups of DBs in the last two classes, so they'll be fine there.
