There have been some concerns as to why Shyheim Carter is working with the second-team unit in Alabama's secondary. Reason for this is due to Carter's intelligence and versatility as a player. The senior has played every position in the secondary, and he is preparing some of the younger players for what's to be expected of them. Also, Nick Saban is trying to get his best players on the field.
With the emergence of Josh Jobe at cornerback, do not be surprised if he is lined up at either outside corner or star (nickel) this season. Should this happen, a strong possibility lies for Carter to shift to free safety. He has tremendous range and ball skills and according to Xavier McKinney, Carter is the "smartest" DB on the team.
It will be interesting to see how Saban plays this out.Â
I really like the personal insight into the individual players. Thanks! ?
One thing ive learned from Carter. Is to not worry about Carter. I may go as far as saying, this dude maybe the best DB we've had in 5 or so Years . The intelligence ,that first step ,his eyes on receivers and QB. This guy is so underrated its scary. People forgetting his bset games are against big opponents. Georgia, Oklahoma he wasnt horrible inClemson game. I really really like this guy. And we should be bless he came back for his senior yr to help this younger group mature.. Thats my take on the man we call Shayhem Carter a true All purpose DB. Roll MF Tide...
