Scott Hodnett’s Top 5 Targets for the Tide

1. Daron Payne- DT – Shades Valley (AL) 6’3″ 344
This giant defensive tackle from Birmingham is an absolute must get for the Crimson Tide in 2015. It is an in-state race between the Alabama and Auburn and it will more than likely come down to the wire. To win the SEC it is a must to have dominant and disruptive defensive lines and Payne could be an immediate contributor. With the recent recruiting success on the defensive line, Payne could just be another cog in the machine. Freakishly strong and with an explosive first step, he is a protypical defensive tackle in the Saban defense.
2. CeCe Jefferson- DE – Baker CO (FL) 6’2″ 244
Jefferson is a great defensive end and could be another big time pass rusher for the Tide if they close on him. Quick off the ball, and unbelievably athletic. While it’ll be tough to pull him away from Florida, he seems to be very high on Alabama and doesn’t mind letting that known. While not as big as some defensive ends, he seems to be a fit for the jack linebacker position at Bama. Therefore, it could come down to preference of positions for him. He would be another huge get for the Tide in their relentless assault of recruiting defensive linemen.
3. Jovon Robinson – RB – Georgia Military (JUCO) – 5’11” 220
Robinson originally committed to Auburn in 2012 and was set to be their running back of the future, but that did not come to pass and he had to enroll in junior college. Last season at Georgia Military he rushed for almost 2400 yards and scored 34 touchdowns while being named JUCO Player of the Year. Another race that will come down between Auburn and Alabama. With Yeldon and Fowler being gone after 2014, the Tide will look to reload with another talented running back in Robinson.
4. 4. Tim Settle – DT – Stonewall Jackson (VA) 6’2″ 307
A strong and versitile big man on the defensive front, Settle would be a great pull for the Tide out of Virginia. The last two recruiting cycles have seen Alabama snag 5-star defensive lineman from Virginia in Jonathan Allen and Da`Shawn Hand, and Settle could be the next. He is big on Bama and the biggest competiton will come from in-state Virginia and Ohio State. A run stuffer and a DT that can get to the quarterback, he will be a next level superstar.
5. Zach Gentry – QB – Eldorado (NM) 6’6″ 230
With the decommitment of top 2015 quarterback Ricky Town, Alabama needs to sign a quarterback in this recruiting class. The main quarterback they seem to be closing in on is Gentry out of New Mexico. Standing at 6’6″ or 6’7″, he has NFL size already and a big time cannon for an arm. While Bama has a lot of young arms enrolled, none seem to the QB of the future outside possibly David Cornwell. The race to win the arm of Gentry will probably come down to the Tide and the Tennessee Volunteers.
