Good, Bad or Both? How Do You Sum Up Week One of the SEC?
By: Larry Burton
In the comment section below, we’d like your input on the first week of games each team had in the SEC. (My opinion in red)
1. South Carolina and Texas A&M – Is A&M that good or was South Carolina just that bad, or was a little of both?
Clearly the Gamecock defense is a shadow of it’s old self and A&M is much better than everyone thought, so a little of both. (or a lot of both)
2. Could Temple really be that good or have the wheels just come of the Vanderbilt team?
Vanderbilt is simply that bad, no way Temple makes any waves against great teams this year.
3. Is Ole Miss that good or is Boise State simply no longer a BCS buster?
Though it was close for three quarters, Ole Miss could really be that good.
4. Is Missouri as good as they looked or was South Dakota State just that big a creme puff?
South Dakota State is really a major league creme puff, so the jury is still out on Missouri.
5. Has Kentucky turned a corner or was UT Martin just that bad?
Trust me, Kentucky has not turned a corner, UT Martin is that bad.
6. Is Auburn that good or was Arkansas that bad or a little of both?
A little of both. Auburn was tied at halftime before finally pulling away from the worst team in the SEC West.
7. Was Alabama that bad or was West Virginia that good or a little of both.
Clearly Alabama didn’t come close to covering the spread and made many errors in the game, they were that bad and they were lucky that West Virginia was simply out manned.
8. Was Georgia that good, Clemson that bad or a little of both?
Clemson is not as bad as they looked today, Georgia is simply just that darn good, scary good.
9. Was Mississippi State that good or Southern Miss that bad?
The dumbest thing Southern Miss has ever done was letting Jeff Bower leave, they have never been the same, but Mississippi State was just that good.
10. In a game where the two teams were almost equal, Was LSU good or bad or was Wisconsin under rated?
LSU was a four point favorite and won by four, so each team lived up to their billing, but LSU showed a lot a heart coming back from a seventeen points down in the fourth. LSU is good.
11. Now overall, is the SEC still the best conference in all of football or is it in a cycle where the other conferences have caught up or passed it?
Just because Auburn lost the SEC’s chance to keep all the titles in the SEC, don’t think the SEC is dead quite yet.
