Position: Running Back
Hometown: Morganton, NC
Stars: 4
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 230 lbs
Athletic Measurables:
At 5’11” and 230 pounds, when you first look at Emmons, you assume he is just a big power back but when you watch him run, it is a whole new ball game. This is the do-it-all back you want on your team, the guy who’s fast, strong and can do a lot of things right. He has been clocked in the 4.4 area in the 40 yard dash, and for his size that is very impressive. He has the frame that we have often seen in Alabama running backs and has the skill to potentially be successful in his time with the Tide.
Instincts & Technique:
Emmons is an impressive athlete, he is very strong, agile and his ability to break tackles is bar none. He is a downfield runner who makes what he does look easy. He is not the flashiest player, he is the guy who when you hand him the ball, gets the job done and done well. Emmons runs in between the tackles well, and works well in gap schemes, basically making him the prototypical Alabama running back. Emmons also has showcased his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, which could work to his advantage when he gets to Tuscaloosa.
Strengths & Weaknesses:
Strengths: Emmons is a power back with elite speed, but his biggest strength is his ability to break tackles. Being able to catch the ball is a plus as well.
Weaknesses: He is not the most explosive player, which could be a problem and he also has not played the best competition, but does have the tools to be a successful back when he adapts.
Reminds me of:
Between the nearly identical size, and similar strong running style, Emmons reminds me of Eddie Lacy.
