Allan Walters is a 6-2, 200 lb. quarterback out of Paramus (NJ) High School in the class of 2018. With an outstanding arm and a pocket presence beyond his years, Walters is a player that will inevitably see his stock rise in the near future.
I was able to speak with Allan and ask him about his recruitment and interest in playing for The University of Alabama.
DJH: How many offers do you have right now?
AW: I have six offers right now. I have offers from Rutgers, Temple, Michigan, Alabama, Ole Miss and Kentucky.
DJH: Who are your top schools?
AW: I’m really just breaking down all my offers right now. I want to go to a few games with my family and really start to break it down. I’m blessed to have the opportunity I have now and I’m just evaluating all my options.
DJH: Do you have any visits planned?
AW: I plan on going to Ole Miss for the Vanderbilt game and Alabama for the Tennessee game.
DJH: What went through your mind when you got an offer from Alabama?
AW: It was unbelievable. To this day, I still haven’t soaked it in and it’s been two weeks. It’s an unbelievable feeling and it’s really a blessing. I was just really, really excited and so was my family. I just really want to get more familiar with the coaches and the program and see where that takes me.
DJH: What Alabama coaches are you speaking with the most?
AW: I talk to Coach Cristobal the most because he’s my area recruiter and I have the best relationship with him. I’m trying to establish a relationship with Coach Kiffin as well and that’s been going good, but mainly Coach Cristobal because he’s my area recruiter and I’ll be seeing him the most.
DJH: How often are you talking with Coach Cristobal?
AW: I’m trying to build up my relationship with him so I’ll be talking with him about once a week.
DJH: What is most attractive to you about Alabama?
AW: Everything. It’s Alabama football. The winning tradition, the atmosphere, it’s just Alabama football. I love the south, personally. My dad actually went to college at Alabama so I love the college football tradition down south. It’s something special and it seems like something I’d probably want to be a part of.
DJH: What do you think you can bring to Alabama football once you get here?
AW: I’m a good natural leader. I’m an outgoing kid so I feel like I’m a good leader. Personally, I feel like I have great arm strength and I can keep building on that. I’m just hoping I can do the best I can if I were to come to Alabama, being a leader on and off the field and keeping the winning tradition going.
DJH: Talk a little bit about your relationship with Rashan Gary and what you think of him.
AW: Rashan is probably one of the best players I’ve ever seen. He’s just a freak, man. He’s unbelievable, unstoppable. My relationship with Rashan can’t get any better. He’s like a brother to me. He lives with me sometimes during the week so I have a great relationship with Rashan. He’s going to be a great player in college and he’s an even better person, so he has a bright future ahead of him wherever he lands.
DJH: If you had to use one word to describe yourself, what would it be?
AW: Humble.
