If you haven’t heard by now, Alabama head coach Nick Saban has an excerpt in his biography where he once gave his team some interesting, yet useful sex advice.
The quote was revealed by Ben Cohen on Twitter. While addressing the team, Saban allegedly told them, “Ultimately, you don’t want to be out there chasing after midnight. If you haven’t locked it up by midnight, it’s not worth it.”
While one may argue that wiser words have never been spoken, Saban makes a valid point that most men, not just athletes have a hard time grasping the concept. If you’re slow on the uptake, basically Saban is referencing his players’ lustful tendencies and thirst for the opposite sex. If you’re out at a party or a bar and the female you may be seeking to sleep with isn’t showing she’s down for the cause — it’s probably time to move on.
However, Saban doesn’t stop there.
No, he goes on to give probably the most poignant piece of advice as he states, “Ultimately, you don’t want to sleep with anyone who has less to lose than you do. So, ultimately, if I’m ever going to sleep around on Miss Terry, It’s gonna be with Hillary F—ing Rodham Clinton.”
As an 18-22 year-old, this sounds quite hilarious, but Saban is right! What’s the point in messing around with someone who can offer you nothing in return but stress, heartache, and possible life altering consequences neither are capable of providing the proper attention to?
I’ll take it a step further. Let’s say these two were to secretly hook up. As the leading candidate for the Democratic party presidential race, why would Hillary Clinton want this news out, or her name and candidacy ruined?
Answer — she wouldn’t.
She has more to lose. While Saban may receive terrible publicity and maybe even a divorce, he more than likely would find another coaching job if Alabama were to fire him. Clinton on the other hand, could kiss her candidacy and marriage goodbye. Now who in their right mind would throw away the opportunity to be the president of the most powerful country in the world?
While the standards of Alabama’s coach appear to be high in terms of women, the typical male and college football player continues to reduce themselves to any money hungry, fame seeking, bloodthirsty female who could give a crap whether the player never achieves his intended goals as long as she gets something out of the deal.
The idea of going to college has long been for young adults to finally spread their wings and taste the fruits of what life has to offer and experience things on their own. For 18-year-old college football players and other athletes, their male body parts have to be guided as well as their physical tools on the field.
All Saban was saying was be careful who you have sex with. While the ideal message would be to quote biblical scriptures of waiting until marriage and practicing abstinence — the real world doesn’t work that way. These guys are going to have sex — a lot of it. However, if the other party can’t bring something of equal value to the table — do like Saban instructed and pick up your plate, and walk away.
