Today, we begin the rundown of our Top Ten Most Wanted list. Coming in at number 10 is wide receiver, Mykel Jones.

Mykel Jones

Patterson, LA (Patterson HS)

Wide Receiver

4 Stars

At 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, Mykel Jones possesses the build and skill set to be an elite slot receiver. He is very quick from his first step off of the line and can beat a corner with a simple double move. When he gets the ball, he is nearly uncatchable. His speed and natural quickness make him a threat anywhere on the field, and he could fit right in with Lane Kiffin’s offense in a similar role that Christion Jones played during his time with the Tide.

Touchdown Alabama Recruiting Analyst Derek Hooper had nothing but praise for the Patterson junior: “Jones is a receiver with unreal speed and quickness in the open field. If defensive backs play too close to the line of scrimmage, he beats them deep every time and if they fall back, he will get the ball in space and make them pay for that decision.”

He brings excellent field vision and acceleration that could play to his advantage in college, making him an option to return on special teams as well as make an immediate impact in the slot. Touchdown Alabama’s Maxwell Taylor called Jones “the prototypical slot receiver.” He went on to say “He has great hands and finishes routes well, but what makes him stand out is his ability to make electric plays in space after the catch and assert himself on high-point catches as a smaller receiver.”

Mykel Jones currently holds 14 offers, seven of those coming from SEC schools. Jones has narrowed down his top four to Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss and LSU.
