Alabama’s Derrick Henry and Calvin Ridley were both instrumental in the team’s 38-10 victory over Georgia last week. The junior running back and freshman wide receiver both earned player of the week honors Monday morning from the Southeastern Conference.
Derrick Henry picks up his second award from the SEC.
He averaged 5.7 yards per carry, totaling 148 yards and a touchdown on 26 attempts. His 30-yard touchdown run in the second quarter gave Alabama a 10-3 lead early on. Henry now has 570 rushing yards and nine touchdowns this season on an average of 6.1 yards per carry.
Calvin Ridley collected an award for SEC Freshman player of the week.
The Florida native accounted for five receptions for 120 yards and a touchdown. He manuevered well in the rain and through Georgia’s secondary, averaging 24.0 yards per catch. Ridley’s touchdown reception came on a 45-yard pass from quarterback Jacob Coker.
Henry, Ridley and Alabama now eyes Arkansas this weekend for homecoming.
