As the high school season progresses, Touchdown Alabama Magazine’s Top Ten Most Wanted players are doing what they do for their respective programs and with the playoffs approaching, each week we will look ahead to what they are doing and what they are in for in the coming week.
1.) Ben Davis (Gordo High School) – at Aliceville
#1 linebacker in Alabama and #1 on Touchdown Alabama’s Top 10 Most Wanted, Gordo star Ben Davis, will lead the Greenwave (7-0) into Aliceville (5-2) to face the Yellowjackets. In a big win last week against American Christian Academy, Davis finished with 9 tackles, a pass breakup and the game-sealing interception. On offense, he finished with two catches for 57 yards and a touchdown. This week Gordo is looking to continue their undefeated regular season and keep executing on all facets of the game, led by Davis, who does play both ways.
2.) Greg Little (Allen High School)- vs Hebron High School
5-star Greg Little is the #1 offensive tackle in America and #2 on our Top Ten Most Wanted list. This week, Little will anchor the Eagle offensive line against the Hebron Hawks. He has lead the offensive line as Allen has averaged 251 passing yards per game and 210 rushing yards per game. Allen totaled 470 yards against Hebron in 2014 and Little looks to help put up similar stats next week.
3.) Lyndell “Mack” Wilson (Carver High School-Montgomery, AL) at Park Crossing
Mack Wilson is the top-rated outside linebacker in the country and #3 in our Top 10 for good reason. Wilson has totaled 40 tackles on the season, and although his Carver Wolverines are not having the ideal season (3-3), they enter what Wilson called via Twitter the ” biggest game of the year” against 4-0 Park Crossing, led by transfer linebacker and South Carolina commit, P.J Blue and Florida safety commit Jeawon Taylor. After a blowout win against Russell County last week, Wilson will look to be the difference maker on Friday to get Carver back on track.
4.) Trevon Diggs (The Avalon School) BYE Week
The #5 wide receiver in the 2016 class, Trevon Diggs is also #4 on our Top 10 list. This week, Diggs and the Tigers will have the week off after coming off a loss last week against W00dberry Forest in where Diggs had 5 catches for 89 yards. Next week they will face 3-3 Riverdale Baptist. In 2014, Riverdale Baptist beat Avalon 28-15 and Diggs will try to make big plays as he has all season to get some revenge on Riverdale.
5.) Jeffrey Simmons (Noxubee County High School) at Leake Central
Simmons worked his way into the TDAM Top 10 very quickly and earned the #1 player ranking in Mississippi after recording 17 tackles in Noxubee’s season opener. The Tigers are 3-4 at the moment after getting a good win against now 4-2 Kosciusko. Simmons did not play last week due to a high ankle sprain and could likely be out again this week.
6.) Rashan Gary (Paramus Catholic) at Don Bosco Prep
Defensive tackle Rashan Gary is the consensus number one player in the nation, according to many and he led the charge and dominated in a 27-21 loss to Bergen Catholic who will be featured on ESPNU this week against DePaul Catholic. Gary finished with 10 total tackles and 3 sacks. Currently Paramus is 1-3 and looks to bounce back against 3-1 Don Bosco Prep, a nationally known program.
7.) Nate Craig-Myers (Tampa Catholic) vs. Land O’ Lakes
Nate Craig Myers of Tampa is a special talent and that’s why he is ranked as the #1 wide receiver in the nation. In a matchup with now 4-2 Berkley Prep, Craig-Myers hauled in 2 touchdowns in the first half, helping the Crusaders get a 34-13 win at Berkley. This week, they will face the 2-3 Land O’ Lakes Gators and Craig-Myers will look to have another big impact.
8.) Willie Allen (John Curtis Christian) vs. Jesuit
Willie Allen is the 10th rated offensive tackle in America, #8 on our TDAM Top Ten and probably the biggest guy on any list. At nearly 6’8, 300 pounds, he brings above ideal size to the tackle position. He has anchored the JC offensive line to a 280 yard rushing average, putting up 249 last week against Brother Martin. This week John Curtis will face 3-4 Jesuit and look to run Devon Bunn behind Allen and keep that average up this week.
9.) Rashard Lawrence (Neville High School) at Bastrop
Lawrence is the top player in the state of Louisiana, and #9 on our list and one of the most dominant forces in the 2016 class. He has 19 solo tackles on the year, and 4 sacks and that is saying a lot seeing as he is almost regularly double teamed Last week This week the Tigers will face the 4-1 Bastrop Rams, who are led by the #15 player in Louisiana, WR Isaiah Graham who holds 9 Power 5 Conference offers. Lawrence looks to disrupt Bastrop’s star QB Jerry Powell and anchor the front seven for Neville.
10.) Mykel Jones (Patterson High School) vs. Berwick
Mykel Jones is another highly touted Louisiana recruit and has battled injuries this season, but has returned and his impact on the Lumberjacks offense has been noticed. After not having Jones and going 1-2, Jones returned in Week 4 to help them improve to 3-2 and they look to keep that going against 2-3 Berwick.
