Legendary Alabama Crimson Tide head football coach Paul “Bear” Bryant once said, “…Defense wins championships.” The offense of today’s college football teams certainly would present a different type of challenge to The Bear’s defenses. Do you think he ever saw the offenses of today’s college football teams on his gameplan?

While the high-speed offenses are piling up points on the scoreboards, the Crimson Tide has remained loyal to its staunch, traditional, hard nose defensive play. What will be arguably one of the stingiest defenses in recent Crimson Tide history has proven resilient, even in the toughest of situations this season.

You may be reading this and saying, “This is obvious, I know this.” Through the first six games of 2015, the Crimson Tide rushing defense is #4 in the country. While Alabama’s pass defense has not been as stingy as their rush defense, they have improved drastically since game one and they will continue to improve.

But there is a test coming. A challenge looms for the Tide defense in College Station, Texas this Saturday. The showdown will test the will of both the Aggies and the Tide. You can expect a motivated Alabama defense who will aim to shut down an explosive Aggie offense.

Alabama’s defense, proven especially proficient under Nick Saban, will continue to adapt to the ever evolving offensive strategies of its opponents. You can expect to see a dominant performance from the Crimson Tide this coming Saturday as it faces a top-ranked Aggies team.

Offensive strategies may change — in fact — they will change. As long as the Alabama defense remains dominant, with a touch of old school attitude, they will handle those evolving offenses with success.
