Alabama leads LSU 13-10 in a back-and-forth affair that feels similar to many recent games between the Tide and the Tigers.
Alabama’s run defense pitched a virtual shut out during the first half The defense consistently stopped Leonard Fournette with only seven players in the box. The Heisman Trophy frontrunner had 9 yards on 9 carries. LSU’s offense suffered as a result, and while they did manage a touchdown, the Tide held them to 127 yards in the first half.
The Tigers responded by opening up an aerial barrage. LSU quarterback Brandon Harris completed 3 of 9 attempts for 90 yards and 1 touchdown. Tide DBs were consistently beaten deep, and Harris took advantage with throws of 37 and 40 yards during the first half.
The Tide offense continued its inconsistent play. At times brilliant, and at times confounding, the unit amassed 188 total yards on the back of Derrick Henry, who has 90 yards on 15 carries.
Adam Griffith’s 55 yard field goal at the end of the second quarter pushed Alabama into a half time lead. With LSU receiving the second half kickoff, Griffith’s spark will give the Tide momentum coming into the second half.
