It is widely-known that Alabama running back Kenyan Drake is dynamic in open space, but what makes him so dangerous is patience. Patience is something Drake has been lacking prior to last week. The senior has been trying to hard to impress NFL scouts as well as proving to himself that he is 100 percent healthy. Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban and offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin both addressed Drake on how important it is to just be himself and show patience.
Fans inside Bryant-Denny Stadium saw the old Drake return Saturday night against LSU.
He complemented Derrick Henry very well, posting 163 all-purpose yards. Drake totaled 68 yards rushing on 10 carries, netting an average of 6.8 yards (led the team).
He was exceptional in the passing game, totaling three receptions for 40 yards. Drake’s 25-yard reception in the third quarter helped set up a one-yard touchdown run from Henry, giving Alabama a 20-10 advantage.
His performance against the Tigers was unarguably his second-best game of the season, behind Wisconsin. Drake looked like Alabama’s concrete No. 2 running back last week.
He and Alabama improved to 8-1 after a 30-16 win. Mississippi State is next on schedule.
