Trent Richardson is a fighter, and it can be stated despite rough endings for him at Indianapolis and Oakland. The third overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft is prepared to shed the stigma of being a “bust,” after spending a year away from the gridiron game.
Richardson, who turns 26 this July, signed a contract with the Baltimore Ravens back on April 18, 2016. The deal was worth $675,000 for one year and Baltimore is making him earn it all.
After missing a week of OTAs (hamstring), Richardson is ready to prove the critics wrong.
“When people say stuff about that I laugh,” Richardson said per Garrett Downing, staff writer for the Baltimore Ravens (Final Drive). “They’re going to keep saying stuff until I show them, until I get on that football field and really prove it to everybody. I’m doing everything I can, and putting all the work I can to be great. And I am going to be great.”
Richardson expects to be back with the team for practice on next week.
Prior to being signed, he trained with former Alabama wide receiver turned strength coach, Mike McCoy. The 2011 Doak Walker Award winner lost 22 pounds under McCoy, going from 240 to 218.
A lot of questions are in the air when it comes to work ethic and health, but Richardson wants another shot at it.
