The good news is that all three aren’t too serious. Whether it was cold temperatures, poor execution or a mixture of both, Alabama did not play a complete game against UT-Chattanooga. The Crimson Tide picked up its pace in the second half to earn a 31-3 win, but questions were asked concerning the health of a few players.
Defensive standouts Jonathan Allen, Reuben Foster (wrist, hand) and Minkah Fitzpatrick were all nick’d up in the first half, however, all three would return to action. Senior Ryan Anderson suffered an injury in the second half and despite being treated, the outside linebacker did not return to the action.
On offense, both Cam Robinson and Korren Kirven got banged up. While the duo was replaced by Brandon Greene and Josh Casher, fans were also concerned about the whereabouts receiver ArDarius Stewart.
“Both Cam Robinson and Korrven Kirven had shoulder problems,” Nick Saban said.
“We think they’ll be okay, but Doc is going to continue to evaluate it.”
The Alabama coach said he expects both guys to able to play next week.
As for Stewart, Saban said he’s fine. Despite notching 10 starts, the Fultondale (Ala.) native was benched for Cam Sims against Chattanooga. Sims collected four passes for 34 receiving yards, including a long of 13 yards.
“Sometimes we have players that have violations of our standard of behavior,” Saban said. “And sometimes the way everyone wants to play and when you have that, you just tell guys that we are not going to play you.”
Saban held Bo Scarbrough out for a second straight week, after the sophomore running back sustained a bruised knee against Louisiana State University on Nov. 5. The Tide hopes to have everyone back on Monday for practice, as it prepares to host in-state rival Auburn in the Iron Bowl.
