The Kentucky native has been consistent all season.
Despite sophomore Bo Scarbrough getting stronger down the stretch, Damien Harris has been the rock for Alabama football in its ground game. After struggling with patience in 2015, he’s become a more complete back in terms of rushing, pass-catching (two touchdowns) and pass-blocking.
Listed at 5-foot-11 and 214 pounds, Harris started earning first-team reps during fall practice.
His determination and attention to details would lead to four 100-yard rushing performances, including three against Southeastern Conference opponents (Ole Miss, Arkansas and Texas A&M). While he should have more than two touchdowns, Harris is 17 yards shy of becoming the eighth 1,000-yard rusher under position coach Burton Burns. Currently, the sophomore and five-star recruit stands with 983 yards rushing on 132 carries.
Harris and the Crimson Tide will face a Washington front that’s allowed 123.5 yards rushing per match-up.
