A change is in the making for Josh Jacobs.

The rising sophomore running back for Alabama football will don a new number in the coming fall, as he’s decided to switch from No. 25 to No. 8β€”his number from McLain High School.

During his high school tenure, he totaled 5,372 yards and 56 touchdowns.

Jacobs turned in a near 600-yard rushing season (567) as a freshman, while recording four touchdowns on 85 carries. He averaged 6.7 yards per rush and 11.14 yards a catch, en route to helping Alabama secure its third straight Southeastern Conference title.Β Jacobs will be the fourth player to wear No. 8 for the Tide in the Nick Saban era, joining formerΒ players Julio Jones and Blake Barnett and current receiver Robert Foster (2013-15).
