Don’t let the numbers from 2016 fool you. Gehrig Dieter can flat out play.
He teamed up with his friend and former Bowling Green State University quarterback, Matt Johnson, during Alabama’s pro day and turned in quality performance through position drills.
According to Football Gameplan, an NFL Draft Scouting site, the South Bend, Ind., native is listed as its No. 2 slot wide receiver for this year’s draft. He fell behind Mississippi Rebels standout Quincy Adeboyejo (78.5) with a grade of 75 – which categorizes him as a “good NFL starter.” Emory Hunt, founder of FBGP Scouting, referred to Dieter as “vastly underrated” with “consistent hands.”
“He’s a 50/50 threat in redzone situations,” Hunt said.
Listed at 6-foot-3 and 208 pounds, Dieter totaled 1,033 receiving yards and 10 touchdown on 94 catches at Bowling Green in 2015. While he caught just 15 passes with four touchdowns at Alabama, he emerged as a premiere blocker on the edge. Dieter cleared the way for four 500-yard rushers, including a 1,000-yard effort from rising junior Damien Harris (1,037, two scores).
