Michael Bennett already plays with some natural headhunters on the Seattle Seahawks, but the next up and comer he mentioned to 710 ESPN in Seattle on Wednesday, has Alabama fans on their feet.
The two-time NFL Pro Bowl defensive end (2015-16) and 2013 Super Bowl champion named former Crimson Tide defensive lineman Jarran Reed to ESPN’s John Clayton as the next beast for the “Legion of Boom.”
Reed turned in 34 tackles, 1.5 sacks and two pass breakups through 15 games as a rookie.
“I think Jarran Reed has a possibility of having a breakout year,” Bennett said. “I think he’s starting to get it a little bit, him being able to shed the blocks, get off the blocks and make some big plays.”
After leading East Mississippi Community College to a National Junior College Athletics Association championship in 2013, Reed signed in the Tide’s 2014 recruiting class. In two seasons, he collected 111 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, two sacks, seven pass breakups and eight quarterback hurries.
Reed won two Southeastern Conference championships (2014, 2015), while helping Alabama obtain a College Football Playoff national championship during the 2015 season.
He was selected as the 49th overall pick – second round – in the 2015 NFL Draft.
