Free safety Ha’Sean “Ha Ha” Clinton-Dix showed how valuable he was to Green Bay’s secondary a season ago, as he led the team with five interceptions. The former University of Alabama standout and first-round pick ended 2016 with 80 tackles and seven pass breakups to add to his stat sheet.
Per a tweet from NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Packers will pick up the fifth-year option on Clinton-Dix’s rookie contract. He’s been exceptional through three seasons at Lambeau Field, amassing 274 tackles, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, seven pass breakups and eight picks.

Green Bay’s defense assisted the team to an NFC North title in 2016, and for Clinton-Dix, his efforts earned him an invitation to the NFL Pro Bowl and a second team All-Pro selection. Before getting selected in the first round – 21st overall pick – of the 2014 NFL Draft, the Florida native was a marquee defensive back at Alabama from 2011-13. He would record 99 total tackles, 10 pass breakups and six interceptions in his three-year career, while helping the Crimson Tide win two BCS national championships in 2011 and 2012. Clinton-Dix earned the status of being first team All-SEC and a consensus All-American, during the 2013 season.
