After years of domination at the University of Alabama, defensive end Jonathan Allen and outside linebacker Ryan Anderson will continue the connection in the National Football League with the Washington Redskins.
Allen, who ended his Crimson Tide career with 28.5 sacks, was selected No. 17 overall in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft. He totaled a combined 22.5 sacks in the last two seasons, including 12 sacks in the Tide’s 2015 national championship year. Anderson, who ended his tenure with 19.5 sacks and 30 tackles for loss, was taken in the second round (No. 49 overall) of the draft. He recorded 15 sacks and 30.5 tackles for loss in the last two years, including a team-high 19 stops for loss in the Tide’s 2016 Southeastern Conference title run.
Per the franchise’s social media handle, both Allen and Anderson revealed their numbers to don in the upcoming season. The two rookies look to bring the same passion that terrorized opponents in the SEC, to the Giants, Cowboys and Eagles in the NFC East Division.
