Alabama OL Bradley Bozeman named to 2017 Remington Trophy watch list

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.– Redshirt senior Bradley Bozeman becomes the second Alabama player named to a preseason watch list for 2017, joining safety Minkah Fitzpatrick —  who is on Lott IMPACT Trophy list.

Bozeman was one of eight Southeastern Conference offensive linemen to make up the 63 individuals on the Remington Trophy watch list, according to the award organization earlier this week.

Bozeman, native of Roanoke, Ala., returns this fall as the Crimson Tide’s starting center.

He started all 15 games a season ago, opening lanes for four 500-yard rushers – including a 1,000-yard performance from junior running back Damien Harris. The three-star prospect kept quarterback Jalen Hurts upright as a freshman, to the tune of 2,780 passing yards, 954 rushing yards and school-record 36 touchdowns responsible for to earn an SEC championship in 2016.

Standing at 6-foot-5 and 314 pounds, Bozeman blocked for an SEC-best 38.8 points a game and 455.3 yards offensively. Along with being an offensive player of the week in eight games via the Tide’s coaching staff, he did not allow a sack in 12 of 15 games a season ago – 80 percent.

Named after Dave Remington, who played center at University of Nebraska from 1979 to 1982, the Remington Trophy is presented annually to college football’s top center. Former Alabama standouts Barrett Jones (2012) and Ryan Kelly (2015) both earned the award with the Tide. The 2017 winner will be recognized at the Rimington Trophy Presentation at the Rococo Theatre in Lincoln, Neb., on Jan. 13, 2018.
