Third-round pick, former Alabama WR ArDarius Stewart signs contract for Jets

Former Alabama WR ArDarius Stewart (No. 13) elevates to make reception versus LSU in 2015 matchup: Cedric Mason - Touchdown Alabama Magazine

Former Alabama wide receiver ArDarius Stewart made it official this afternoon with the New York Jets, as the 79th overall pick of the NFL Draft signed his contract for the organization.

After signing in the Crimson Tide’s 2013 recruiting class, the Fultondale (Ala.) native turned in two stellar seasons in 2015 and 2016. He would post 117 receptions for 1,564 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns combined, earning him the status of being a third-round pick to the Jets.

According to Randy Lange, senior reporter for the Jets, head coach Todd Bowles refers to Stewart as someone “who has toughness for the ball.”

“He’s tough, he can run routes, he can run with the ball in his hands after the catch, he’s a good teams player. He brings a lot of attitude to that side of the ball,” Bowles said to Lange.

Pairing Stewart with Eric Decker and Jalin Marshall will be interesting. Having solid play at the quarterback position now becomes a critical point of emphasis for Bowles and the franchise moving forward.
