Eddie Lacy is earning his $5.5 million contract at Seattle.
Prior to him signing a one-year deal on March 14, Seahawks’ head coach Pete Carrol arraigned for Lacy to hit target weight goals before receiving a pair of $55K paychecks. He earned the first one after dropping from 267 to 253 pounds, and as of Monday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler tweets on Lacy winning round two – hitting 250 pounds.

Although his contract includes $3 million guaranteed, Lacy could earn up to $385,000 should he excel in seven different weigh-ins according to ESPN’s Sheil Kapadia. In the article, it states that the former Alabama running back is taking offseason workouts seriously and upon being asked what he thought about the Seahawks suggesting a weight clause, Lacy called it a “challenge.”
“As a competitor, you want to be challenged,” he said.
“So it’s a positive challenge. At the end of the day, it helps me personally, too, so why not? “I have a great support group behind me from coaches to players to the nutrition team. So everybody’s positive, which helps me because I know I have a group of people behind me pushing me, so it’s all working out, it’s all going great. I’ve just got to continue to go that way.”
Before signing with Seattle, weight issues and injuries hindered Lacy from putting up solid numbers at Green Bay during the last two seasons. He rushed for just 360 yards a season ago, after notching back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns in 2013 and 2014. The Louisiana native received the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year, second team All-Pro and All-Rookie Team honors from Pro Football Writers Association in 2013, following a year that he scored 11 touchdowns.
His next weigh-in comes in August.
