Alabama picked up a valuable commit in Skyler Delong on today. Their recruiting pitch must have impressed Delong because up until today he has been committed to Tennessee. Delong made his decision early Thursday morning, per a report from SEC Country
Alabama offered him earlier this month on June 3. Skyler becomes the fourth player to join the Tide’s 2018 recruiting class. Delong is going to have an opportunity to see some early playing time and in return have some big shoes to fill.
Alabama current punter, J.K. Scott, has become a fan favorite in Tuscaloosa and rightfully so. He averaged 47.2 yards on 64 punts last year with a long of 66 yards. Scott’s punts were huge in some of Alabama’s game.
He has downed opponents deep in their own territory many times.
He will truly be miss by the Alabama faithful once he graduates at the end of this season. Hopefully, Delong will make their transition to a new punter as smooth as possible. Everything that this kid has shown so far tells that he is up to the challenge that comes with being the punter for an elite team. He is the No. 1 punter in the 2018 recruiting class according to 247 Sports. Delong should not have any problem with stepping in and becoming the next great specialist at the Capstone. Alabama recruiting has hear some great news over the last couple of days. It is looking like it is going to be a big summer for them in terms of commits. Things could get interesting.
