Head coach Todd Bowles and the New York Jets did not have third-round pick and former Alabama wide receiver, ArDarius Stewart at Wednesday’s minicamp session due to injuries.
Stewart, who was selected at No. 79 overall in the NFL Draft, had surgery on both his thumb and groin a week ago. Bowles addressed the media after Wednesday’s practice, stating that the 6’1″ wide out ‘should be ready to go by training camp’. Despite recovering from the procedure, Stewart is projected to start next season – especially with Eric Decker’s departure and Devin Smith sustaining a serious knee injury.
Before getting drafted to the Jets, the Fultondale (Ala.) native brought much pop to Alabama’s offense throughout his four-year career. The former high school quarterback totaled 129 receptions for 1,713 yards and 12 touchdowns, including a team-high 864 receiving yards and eight scores through 15 games in 2016.
