Washington, Notre Dame, Oregon, Utah, Tennessee and UCLA were the other teams that made his list.
He is a 4-star recruit according to both ESPN and 247 Sports. ESPN has him ranked as the No. 8 offensive guard in the 2018 class.
Vakalahi is the epitome of a great offensive guard. He pulls with an aggressive style and is looking to land a big block on any defender that comes his way.
Guards that are able to pull on running plays are huge weapons. They are able to make down field blocks that allow runners to break free. Alabama has always had a couple run plays where they depended on offensive linemen to pull and make important blocks. Vakalahi seems to enjoy getting the best of opposing defenders when he is pulling, because after he lays one of them on their back he gives them that all to important stare down that proves he is the top dog.
The 6’3″ 312-pounder is ready to compete at the next level, and Alabama has never been shy about letting young players play early and often.
Alabama fans should be very excited about all of the good news they have heard in recruiting over the last couple of days. Alabama is looking like their trying their best to put their slow recruiting start far behind them.
