Alabama football senior cornerback Tony Brown is one of seven student-athletes that will travel to Sacramento, Calif., on Thursday and one of 13 athletes in all that is scheduled to participate in the National Championships for Track and Field in three different countries, per a press release from the university’s athletic department on Monday.
Brown, who’s running the 100 meter dash, will join Quanesha Burks (long jump), Stacey Destin (high jump), Kord Ferguson (discus), Diamond Gause (200 meters), Angelo Goss (110-meter hurdles) and McLean Lipschutz (javelin) at Hornet Stadium for the United States Track and Field (USATF) Outdoor Championships from Thursday, June 22 to Sunday, June 25.
Athletes who finish in the top three in each event, and have met the qualifying standard, will earn a spot on the U.S. national team that will compete in the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAFF) World Championships on Aug. 4-13 in London, England. Brown ended his outdoor track season for the Tide with second team All-American honors in both the 100 meters and 4×100 relay.
