Alabama’s look at the linebacker position just got even more interesting, as neither Rashaan Evans nor Anfernee Jennings will suit up this weekend versus Fresno State due to injuries.
The Crimson Tide has already lost both Christian Miller and Terrell Lewis for the season, and following the matchup against Florida State – head coach Nick Saban mentioned Evans (groin) and Jennings (ankle) were banged up too.
While Evans has been spotted at practice in a non-contact uniform, Jennings is recovering from a success surgery and shared news on Twitter.
“Anfernee Jennings and Rashaan Evans will be out for this game,” Saban said Wednesday during his presser. “We hope to get them back soon.”
The slight decimation at outside backer has forced some young players to step up, as well as gain a look at two defensive linemen (Da’Shawn Hand, LaBryan Ray) that could be versatile.
Hand and Ray have worked under outside linebackers’ coach Tosh Lupoi, and both bring something to the position that the coaching staff likes according to reports.
Alabama will host the Bulldogs at Bryant-Denny Stadium at 2:30 p.m.
