It is the saddest of times in Knoxville, Tennessee, of late. The trophy case has only added dust to the collection over the last few seasons (with the exception of the Champions of Life Trophy, of course). The roster is equally as bare so it comes as no big surprise that Butch Jones’ Volunteers are currently fifth in the SEC East. Most pundits believed last week’s loss to South Carolina would be the final nail in Jones’ coffin, but it seems likely Tennessee did not want an interim coach to start their career against the top-ranked Crimson Tide.
All is dark on good ole Rocky Top, so why not go back and take a look at a brighter time? Say, a little over four years ago when Butch Jones was first pried from the Cincinnati Bearcats.
YouTube user, allVOLyall, took to the site to post a rather creative ‘music video’ in response to the hiring of Jones. In said video, he describes how Butch Jones is going to ‘kick ass’ and that he was ‘aiming right at Saban’. Additionally, he dressed up in an Alabama t-shirt, a trucker hat, and some fake buck teeth to represent an Alabama fan begging for mercy.
Since the hire, the Volunteers are 0-4 against Alabama, and were outscored 147-54 in those games. The video in discussion is posted below (NSFW: Language)
Alabama and Tennessee kick off today at 2:30 on CBS in Tuscaloosa. There may be no Butch Jones left to sing about by tonight.
