LSU head coach Ed Orgeron will be sick to his stomach after watching what happened during two of the Tigers’ three offensive possessions in the fourth quarter. It was not as much as him sacking quarterbacks Danny Etling and Myles Brennan, but rather the emotion and animation shown upon him rising from both plays — giving excitement to fans at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Freshman linebacker and Baton Rouge native Dylan Moses was listed at No. 5 on the ESPN 300 recruiting database when he signed in Alabama’s 2017 class.

The 6-foot-3, 232-pounder from IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) was one of six five-star prospects, and after stepping in to help the Crimson Tide defeat LSU over the weekend, Moses is in prime position for more field time.

After seeing a number of players go down versus the Tigers – including Shaun Dion Hamilton and Mack Wilson – head coach Nick Saban mentioned in Monday’s presser on how the challenge will be to locate guys that will emerge. While Hamilton (knee) and Wilson (feet) are set to more than likely miss the rest of the regular season, other guys that were hurt should return this week.

The combination of Rashaan Evans and Keith Holcombe, which combined for 14 tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack last week, shall carry the load in providing leadership.

Regardless of missing two games with a groin injury, Evans accounts for 36 tackles, seven tackles for loss, four sacks and five quarterback hurries. Aside from him and Holcombe, Alabama is eyeing Moses as the next man up in the rotation to provide a contribution.

“He will have to step up and he’ll get an opportunity to do that,” Saban said of Moses.

“Dylan has made a lot of progress throughout the season and has a better understanding of what he is supposed to do and how he’s supposed to it. He would be the next guy up at the position and we would have to move some younger guys up for depth.”

Some players honestly crave the chance to thrive in pressure situations.

Moses appears to be one of those guys, especially with his ability to rush off the edge and showcase instincts in following certain plays. This week in practice is pivotal for him as he expects to assist the Tide in trying to limit the dual-threat qualities of Nick Fitzgerald and Mississippi State.
