Last week against the Buffalo Bills, Mark Ingram ran 22 times for 131 yards and three touchdowns. This week, though he notched much fewer carries, he still nearly matched that production again.
With his Saints trailing the Redskins wire-to-wire, mostly by at least two possessions, his attempts saw a major hit. He found a way put on a show, regardless, going off for 134 yards and a score on just 11 attempts. Though the rookie, Alvin Kamara, will get most of the spotlight for his incredible game-tying juggle catch, Ingram’s equally clutch back-to-back runs of 20 and 31 yards in overtime set up the Saints’ game-winning field goal.
In addition to his outstanding preformance, the Saints’ Twitter account also tweeted this out in celebration of his 5,000 career rushing yards milestone:
Congratulations to @MarkIngram22 on becoming only the second Saint with 5,000 career rushing yards. First down, Saints!!#SaintsGameday | #WASvsNO pic.twitter.com/OOvdOZ1QW9

With six games left to go, Ingram’s 2017-18 campaign already ranks as the third-best in rushing yards of his seven year career (806 yards). Should he stay on pace, this season has all the makings of a career year for the Heisman Trophy winner.
During its current eight-game win streak, New Orleans has looked like one of the most balanced teams in the NFL. This could be the best all-around team Mark Ingram has been apart of since his days in Tuscaloosa as their high-powered offense and much-improved defense has them looking like true Super Bowl contenders.
