Since his first signing class in 2008, University of Alabama football head coach Nick Saban has brought in at least one quarterback per group.
Whether it was Greg McElroy and AJ McCarron, or a graduate transfer in Jacob Coker, Saban has yet to end a class without getting a signal caller.
For this year’s group, the Crimson Tide has 23 scholarships available and with 15 individuals signing on Wednesday – there are eight spots remaining for elite talent.
Despite focusing on defensive needs, Alabama is hopeful to land a quarterback.
“We have tried to recruit a quarterback,” Saban said. “We are going to continue to do that, especially to find one that creates positive for the organization.”
Under his tenure, Saban has kept at least four signal callers on the roster.
“We certainly like to have a quarterback,” he said. “That may or may not be possible, but we will make the decision based on recruiting.”
Currently, the Tide has three scholarship quarterbacks in sophomore Jalen Hurts, freshman Tua Tagovailoa and freshman Mac Jones. While Georgia snatched Justin Fields and Clemson grabbed Trevor Lawrence, there is still time between now and February for Saban to land his guy.
