It was a good week of practice for JK Scott as the former University of Alabama punter looked strong in drills, heading into Saturday’s Senior Bowl game at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
Throughout his career with the Crimson Tide, Scott was a valued weapon in giving his team the advantage in field position while squeezing opportunities away from others. He became the first specialist in school history to record 10,000 yards, and 31 of his 54 punts last season were not returned. Hailing from Denver, Colo., Scott averaged 43 yards per attempt in Alabama’s run to the College Football Playoff National Championship, but his output on Saturday was higher.
He totaled 48.7 yards a boot on six punts, with his longest traveling 60 yards in South’s 45-16 win over North. Despite not recording a touchback or fair catch, Scott’s hangtime was where he wanted it to be in term of what he spoke to the media on things he was improving on in practice.
The NFL Combine and Alabama’s Pro Day are the biggest events on the horizon for Scott, of whom multiple draft analysts predict to be taken high among the specialists. He played a major role in three Southeastern Conference championships and two national titles, and no matter where he goes in this year’s venue, the Tide faithful shall continue to pull for the golden leg.
