The Recruiting Update For Alabama Fans

Alabama’s 2019 recruiting class is shaping up to be quiet special, but there is room for them to add some more elite talent. Yours truly reached out to Alabama fans via Twitter to see which players fans wanted a recruiting update on. Here is the list of the guys and an update on their recruitment.

Daxton Hill

Alabama is in a good position to land Hill as of now, but they are going to have to battle it out with some top notch teams to pull him in. He released a top 5 late last month, which included the Tide, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Michigan, Clemson and Ohio State. Hill has not provided a favorite, but it is believed that he will make a decision this Summer.  He does plan on taking a visit to each school before making his decision, which gives Alabama a chance to lay out the red carpet. Something to pay attention to though is his brother, Justice Hill, is actually a running back for Oklahoma State. This one is going to basically come down to whatever program makes Hill feel the most at home.

Christian Harris

Harris’ recruitment is looking like is going to be one of those classical LSU Vs. Bama scenarios. We have all seen this play out before with several different recruits. The only safe thing to say about Harris is that he will most likely choose Alabama or LSU. The latest announcement he made was a top ten, which included Alabama and LSU. It is expected that he will take a ton of visits this summer and should at least have his list cut down some more by the fall.

Ishmael Sopsher

This is another Bama Vs LSU recruitment battle that is up in the air. LSU is recruiting him very heavily, making sure he will not leave the state of Louisiana. The Tide did get him to campus on A-Day and should get some more visits out of him. He is definitely interested in the Tide and it all comes down if they can make him feel like Tuscaloosa is the best place for him.

Kayvon Thibodeaux

Thibodeaux is an interesting case. I do think Alabama has a chance, but this guy is a freak of nature that wants to get on the field early and often and one can bet others schools are using the old if “you go to Bama, you’re not going to play” spill in their recruiting pitch. Fortunately, for the Tide they were able to dispel some of the myths about Alabama football when Thibodeaux visited, which was huge for them, considering the fact that Thibodeaux knows and believes that he has the ability to get on the field during his first season. He has yet to release a favorite or even a top school list,  but I believe he is seriously considering Alabama. He said he will visit Tuscaloosa in the Fall.

Faatui Tuitele

Tuitele recently dropped a top five, which included Alabama, Washington, Clemson, Ohio State and Texas. The Tide should be considered a heavy favorite with this guy attending the former high school of Tua and Taulia Tagovailoa. Both of  their families have a very close relationship. The fact that the Tagovailoas move to the state of Alabama with Tua is another plus for the Tide. The Tide are in a good position as of now and it is going to be difficult for any team to get Tuitele to not Commit to the Tide.

Marcus Banks

Banks is heavily considering Alabama and is expected to make his commitment in late June or early July. when I spoke to him, he told me that Alabama pretty much speaks for itself. He will take an official visit on June 15-17. It is safe to say that the Tide are in a great position to get a commitment from him this Summer.

Nolan Smith

Smith is pretty much a lock for Georgia. It is going to be hard for any team to get this guy away from the Dawgs. Something of interest is that he has continue to take visits to other schools.

Clay Webb

Webb is easily the most-sought-after player in the State of Alabama and you can bet the Tide are working their tail’s off to land him. The Tide do have a huge factor working in their favor, being  that the leader of their 2019 recruiting class, Pierce Quick, is good friends with Webb. Quick has hit the recruiting trail just as aggressively as members of the Tide’s coaching staff. I predict that he will join Alabama’s 2019 recruiting class.
