C.J. Mosley expecting lucrative contract after 2018 season with Ravens

Mark Konezny - USA TODAY Sports

He is one of few University of Alabama alums participating in organized team activities and it speaks volumes for the Baltimore Ravens – a franchise that wants players to lead by example.

Inside linebacker C.J. Mosley will enter his fifth season in the National Football League this fall, as he is coming off a third year in which he totaled at least 100 tackles. The three-time Pro Bowler (2014, 2016-17) recorded a team-high 132 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, seven pass breakups, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in 2017.

His quickness and instincts have made him one of the best linebackers in the league, and it was made evident with him being voted at No. 98 on the NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2018.

Mosley, a three-time second team All-Pro selection, had the fifth-year option on his rookie contract picked up by the Ravens on March 28, 2017. While he desires to see Baltimore return to the playoffs, securing a huge contract is another thing on his mind. Before getting selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, Mosley was one of the best linebackers under Nick Saban.

He led Alabama in tackles in 2013 (108) and earned first team All-SEC and All-American honors. Mosley would also win Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Year and the Dick Butkus Award – presented to nation’s top linebacker – for his performance that season.

A native of Theodore, Ala., Mosley assisted the Crimson Tide to two BCS national championships in 2011 and 2012 while helping the school earn an SEC title in 2012. He’s amassed 474 tackles, eight sacks, six forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, eight interceptions and 30 pass breakups in four years with the Ravens.
