Damien Harris likes to have fun.
He’s a competitor on the field, however, many people see him pursuing a career in television upon the end of his playing days. The senior running back for the University of Alabama decided to joke around with the press at Southeastern Conference media days, as he took on questions about the Crimson Tide’s quarterback race, thoughts on Central Florida self-proclaiming a national title and even talked on the player Tennessee is getting in Brandon Kennedy.
He saved his best gem toward the end, after a question on offensive analyst Butch Jones appeared in the conversation. Jones, who Alabama head coach Nick Saban referred to as an “intern” upon being hired this offseason, was a head coach at both Tennessee and Cincinnati.
It is bad enough to have your boss label you an intern, nevertheless, seeing one of the team’s marquee players on offense not understand your role is much worse.

“I’m not sure what an analyst is supposed to do,” Harris said of Jones, as media laughs. “But he’ll get with the coaches as much as he can and whatever his job is, I’m sure he will do it at a very high level.”
Regardless of the idea that the Alabama-Jones experience will only benefit Jones, the former head coach has a lot of knowledge in which Saban can use. Some of the best moments at Tennessee came with Jones at the helm, despite him not being able to maximize talent.
He has proven to be a good recruiter and though a little humor is always needed, Harris wants Jones to have success. Alabama carries the highest odds (9 to 5) to win the College Football Playoff National Championship via Las Vegas Super Book in the fall.
